Join Our Acute Medical Physiotherapy Team! AWH are seeking Senior Physiotherapy (or aspiring) experts to mentor and support rotational staff!
more details ...
Who are we?
Our AWH team of nearly 3,000 staff supports a population of 250,000 members of the community throughout North- East Victoria and Southern NSW. AWH is a dynamic organisation undergoing significant growth, including the final stages of development of a new Emergency Department on Albury Campus (due for completion in April 2024) and we are currently progressing towards the early phases associated with a new Acute Services Building Redevelopment. There is significant and exciting expansion and health care improvement happening!
The Senior Medical Physiotherapy Position
We are currently offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Acute Physiotherapist. The FTE is flexible, with opportunity across the Medical streams at both Albury and Wodonga Campuses – these are negotiable for the successful applicant.
Our team would welcome an application from a self-motivated, positive and influential senior physiotherapist with skills and passion for acute medical management. The primary focus of this role is clinical caseload management, mentoring and support, alongside our rotating physiotherapists; we have a large team that consists of several senior experienced clinicians in the acute and subacute areas, who you would work directly with daily, to ensure you feel supported to achieve and grow. A nurturing, adaptable and clear, friendly communication style is essential to building rapport across a wide stakeholder group. The acute wards are a busy, demanding and complex environment, with constant pressure on beds; hence would be best suited to a flexible, broad thinking, solution focused skilled physiotherapist. Further responsibilities include providing support and guidance to the rotators and AHAs, delivering informal and formal education and in-services, making a multidisciplinary contribution to patient care and using your expertise to help contribute towards strategic improvement for our department and organisation. The caseload management involves a diverse range of cases including acute stroke, respiratory admissions, falls and frailty, neuro, cardiac and higher acuity respiratory management in the HAB unit (ICU step down).
Effective communication is crucial in this role, and we are looking for a candidate with a nurturing, adaptable, and clear communication style to build rapport across a wide stakeholder group. Given the demanding and complex nature of the acute wards, the ideal candidate should be flexible, possess broad thinking, and demonstrate a solution-focused proactive approach to thrive in such an environment with constant pressure on beds. We value dedicated and reliable physiotherapists who are team-oriented, adaptable, and flexible, contributing to positive outcomes for patients and colleagues. Collaboration is key, and we encourage innovation to enhance our practice. We welcome applications from Senior Physiotherapists or emerging leaders who can suggest, implement, and embed changes that directly contribute to improving patient experiences.
As our organisation evolves, so too can this position, providing ample opportunities for career progression and diversion. Our commitment to your professional development is evident through the flexibility to explore various career pathways within the organisation, whilst maintaining your substantive position. Additionally, access to scholarships are available both from AWH and external sources to support attendance at professional development events, ensuring you stay at the forefront of your field.
Our salary packaging options provide a unique opportunity to boost your take-home wages, with benefits such as novated leasing for cars. Our remuneration is award based, offering transparency and recognised progression through skill acquisition. This demonstrates our dedication to creating an environment that not only encourages growth and innovation but also prioritises your financial well-being.
Join us on this exciting path as our health service expands and become a proud long-standing member of our esteemed physiotherapy team.
